Joey began playing drums at the age of 2 and studied under the direction of Larry Levine, Rich Laplant, and Preston Nash.

Throughout his high school and college years, he played for Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band.

Joey was the winner of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award (1997).

Joey is well-versed in many genres including metal, rock, pop, jazz, and orchestral.

​

He has performed and/or recorded with: Nash, Primer 55, Straight Jacket, Skinless, Bipolar, Goin' Nowhere, 7 Stories Falling, and Tony Perrino.
